Tumors, Benign or Malignant

Consequences for the organism. Benign tumors usually develop slowly and do not harm the body. Some of them may nevertheless subsequently escalate and mutate into malignant tumors. These include intestinal polyps (colonic adenoma), which often degenerate into adenocarcinomas (adenoma-carcinoma sequence). The hormone-producing adenomas may cause through these serious diseases.

Tumors, benign or malignant, may also cause the following complications:

* Minor obstruction of hollow organs (lumen) and compression of adjacent organs
* Ectopic hormone (ACTH, parathyroid hormone, insulin)
* Compression cerebral benign brain tissue (meningioma)
